Sanctified Steps: Marriage Is the Good thing| A Purpose Worth Waiting For| Proverbs 18:22 (KJV)

Marriage Is A Good Thing: Proverbs 18:22

📖 Scripture

“Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.” — Proverbs 18:22 (KJV)

Devotional:

Waiting isn’t wasting. It’s preparation.

In a world that rushes everything—love, timelines, expectations—God calls you to wait with purpose. Not to twiddle your thumbs in loneliness, but to become the “good thing” that’s worth finding.

This verse isn’t just about marriage. It’s about identity. It’s about divine alignment.

Ruth didn’t chase Boaz—she walked faithfully in the field, gleaning what was left behind.
Esther didn’t beg for favor—she prepared in quiet confidence and let God open the door to the king.
Rebekah wasn’t trying to be noticed—she was serving at the well when her destiny found her.

None of these women were passive. They were positioned.

You don’t have to manipulate or manufacture a love story. When you walk in purpose, God writes chapters that are better than anything you could plan.

Being found isn’t about being lucky. It’s about being ready when purpose knocks.

Reflection:

  • Are you waiting well, or are you growing weary in the delay?

  • What might God still be cultivating in your character before releasing your next chapter?

  • Are you preparing for the blessing you’re praying for?

Daily Wisdom Insight:

A godly wife isn’t just a gift—she’s prepared in private long before she’s revealed in public.

Before a seed blossoms, it must first be buried, broken, and rooted. So it is with those God is preparing for purpose.

Consider Rebekah—going about her daily duties at the well, unaware she was about to be chosen as Isaac’s bride. Her readiness wasn’t rehearsed; it was revealed through her servant-hearted response and quiet strength. She didn’t chase position—she walked in purpose.

He who finds a wife finds a good thing—but what’s good to God is often shaped in silence, faithfulness, and unseen obedience. The waiting season isn’t punishment—it’s preparation.

Often, it’s the waiting room that becomes heaven’s refining room.

God doesn’t rush what He values. Diamonds are formed in pressure. Pearls in irritation. Gold in fire. And godly women? They’re formed in surrender. In devotion. In seasons of silence where character is forged, not just chemistry.

The world sees “a good thing” as appearance or performance.
God sees “a good thing” as prepared, positioned, and planted in Him.

Practical Application:

Use this season to build, not brood. God isn't withholding—He's preparing.

  • Deepen your walk with God: Set aside intentional time daily for prayer, worship, and study. Ask Him to shape your desires and align your heart with His timing.

  • Develop your purpose: Explore your gifts. Take steps in your calling—whether that means serving in ministry, pursuing a dream, or strengthening a skill.

  • Invest in your wholeness: Attend to your emotional, physical, and spiritual health. Healing now prevents cycles later.

  • Practice contentment: Learn to find joy in your singleness, so you don’t idolize marriage or lose your identity in a relationship.

  • Stay ready in faith, not desperation: Keep your standards rooted in God’s Word, not the world’s pressure. Preparation is not passive—it’s powerful.

A fruitful relationship grows from a faithful season. Water your now so it can bloom in your next.

 Prayer:

Lord,

Help me to wait well.
Not with impatience, but with purpose.
Make me the kind of woman who walks in wisdom, who trusts in Your timing,
and who prepares for love without idolizing it.
Let me be hidden in You until the right eyes find me.

Amen.

Sanctified Steps: While You Were Still A Long Way off| Luke 15:20 (KJV)

While You Were Sill A Long Way Off: Luke 15:20

📖 Scripture:

"But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him."Luke 15:20 (KJV)

Devotional:

Sometimes we’re so busy staring at the distance between where we are and where we want to be, we forget—God’s already running toward us.

Darren thought he had to earn his way back into his daughter’s life. And maybe you’ve felt the same—that your past disqualifies you from love, from peace, from being seen. But Luke 15 reminds us: God doesn’t wait for an apology to love you. He loves while you’re still on the way.

The Father didn’t stand with crossed arms waiting for explanations. He ran. He ran. Compassion moved Him. Grace carried Him. He didn’t wait for the right words—He responded to the return.

And that’s what God does for us. Even with the weight of regret on our shoulders and unanswered texts still lingering, His love outruns our shame.

If you've ever asked, “What if God forgives me… but they don’t?”—know this: God’s love is not contingent on anyone else’s response. He sees you. Still loves you. Still runs toward you.

Reflection:

  • Have you been trying to earn your way back to grace?
  • Are you afraid that your past disqualifies you from restoration?
  • What if the return was enough? What if the first step was all it took?

Daily Wisdom Insight:

Grace doesn’t wait at the finish line. It meets you on the road.
You don’t have to get everything right before God embraces you.
Healing often begins not with answers, but with a step toward home.

 Application:

Today, write down the name of someone you’re praying for—or someone you need to forgive. Then circle it, like Darren did. Let that be your prayer: a symbol of grace meeting the past with the hope of a new beginning. You don’t have to fix it all… but you can open the door.

Prayer:

Father,

Thank You for seeing me even when I’m a long way off.
I’m tired of carrying regret.
Help me to believe that Your love runs toward me, not away from me.
Give me the courage to return… and the grace to wait for others doing the same.
In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

💬 Discussion Questions:

  • Have you ever experienced someone showing you grace when you didn’t feel worthy?

  • What’s one small way you can extend compassion to someone who may be “a long way off”?

  • How can you model the Father’s heart—one that runs, embraces, and loves first?
