| Owe No Man Anything: Romans 13:8 |
📖 Scripture:
"Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law." Romans 13:8 (KJV)
Devotional Reflection:
Debt is a heavy burden, whether financial, emotional, or spiritual. It can press down on us and whisper reminders of what we lack. But Paul shifts the focus—he tells us that there’s one debt we’re never meant to pay off: the debt of love. This isn’t the kind of obligation that drains us, but the kind that fills us.
The widow with only a jar of oil (2 Kings 4) watched as God multiplied what little she had, enough to pay her creditors and free her sons. Peter, at Jesus’ word, opened the mouth of a fish and found a coin to pay the temple tax (Matthew 17:24–27). Both moments remind us: God is able to provide in the natural when we put Him first. Yet, above all, the debt that lingers is love—because every act of love fulfills God’s law.

Practical Application:

Take one step today to “pay the debt of love.” Call someone who’s hurting. Forgive someone who’s weighed heavy on your heart. Give generously, even if small, knowing God multiplies it.
If you’re carrying financial debt, bring it before God. Ask Him for wisdom, discipline, and unexpected provision—trusting the same God who multiplied oil and placed a coin in a fish’s mouth.

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for reminding me
that love is the only debt worth carrying.
Help me to walk free
from the chains of fear, guilt, and financial worry.
Teach me to trust Your provision
and to live generously, even in tight places.
Pour out Your love in me,
so I can pour it out to others each day.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
