| The Gift of Compassion| Proverbs 19:17 |
“He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.” — Proverbs 19:17 (KJV)
Devotional Reflection:
Love is never wasted when it’s given in the name of compassion.
When we give from the heart — a meal, a moment, a helping hand — we’re not just showing kindness to others. We’re giving directly to God.
In Christmas at the Paw House, a frightened foster teen, a handful of loyal animals, and a spark of faith show that miracles often begin with mercy. What looked like loss became love — because someone cared enough to step in.
Heaven sees every act of compassion. Every gift given in secret, every prayer whispered for a stranger, every moment spent helping the forgotten — all of it is recorded, remembered, and rewarded by the One who gave first.
This Christmas, let’s give love without keeping score, serve without seeking recognition,
and trust that the same God who multiplies loaves and fishes can multiply the good we do in His name.
Reflection Questions:
• How can you be the answer to someone’s prayer this Christmas?
• When was a time you gave something small, but God used it in a big way?
• What does it mean to you that God counts every act of compassion as a gift to Him?
Daily Wisdom Insight:
Every act of kindness becomes a seed in God’s garden —and in His time, it always grows back into blessing.
Prayer:
Lord,
Thank You for reminding us that compassion is a form of worship.
Teach us to give not out of excess,
but out of love — just as You gave Your Son to us.
Let our hands be generous,
our hearts be open,
and our lives be reflections of Your mercy.
Use us this season to lift the broken,
to comfort the lonely,
and to remind the world that kindness still has power.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
💬 Discussion Prompt:
Who around you could use a little extra kindness this Christmas? Offer them a word, a gesture, or a gift that reminds them —love still shows up, and God still repays in full.
